Mansur Yavaş, the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, said regarding mayors switching to different political parties, "If the voters wanted to elect a mayor from another party, they would have done so already."

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş received information about the ongoing work at the Mamak metro construction site and conducted inspections.

Yavaş started his program by visiting the ABB Department of Studies and Projects Rail Systems Branch Office. He was accompanied by Mamak Mayor Veli Gündüz Şahin during the visit.

Officials provided Yavaş and Şahin with information about the current status of the project via slides. It was stated that construction has actually begun on 5 stations.

METRO OPENING DATE 2029

The project timeline was also evaluated in the meeting. It was recalled that work began on July 16, 2025. It was noted that the project is expected to be completed on January 14, 2029.

After the briefing, Yavaş boarded a municipal bus arranged for the visit and went to the construction site with press members.

Regarding the project completion date, Yavaş said, "We will hopefully bring it forward before the election."

Yavaş noted that due to traffic closures for NATO Summit preparations, they had the opportunity to make many improvements, and hosting NATO here was also positive for Ankara's promotion.
