It has been claimed that, in the event of a possible split from the CHP, Yavaş prefers to remain independent rather than join the New Party, that he will seek a social consensus of 50%+1 for the presidency, and that if such conditions do not materialize, he may bid farewell to politics after his second term as mayor.
