Feramuz Üstün, Chief Advisor to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, made striking statements regarding the presidential candidacy. Stating that Yavaş has not yet made a decision, Üstün said, "There is no possibility of him not being a candidate; he cannot step back. Society wants it, and the matter has also gone beyond him." Üstün said that support for Yavaş could also come from AK Party voters.
Feramuz Üstün, Chief Advisor to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and former AK Party Gümüşhane MP, made striking statements regarding Yavaş’s presidential candidacy. Stating that Yavaş has not yet made his decision but that he thinks there is no possibility of him not being a candidate, Üstün said, “Society wants it; the matter has also gone beyond him.”
“SOCIETY WANTS HIM”
Explaining that he attended various events in Adana last week, Üstün said he was most often faced with the question “Will Yavaş be a candidate?” According to the news in Sözcü, Üstün, who was also among the founders of the Future Party, stated that the vast majority in Anatolia are waiting for the decision Yavaş will make.
Conveying Yavaş’s approach to his presidential candidacy, Üstün used the following statements: “President Mansur says, ‘I have seen service as a duty to the homeland, as a military duty. If citizens expect such a thing from me, if the nation has such an expectation from me, I consider this a military duty. A patriot would not have anything like avoiding military service.’ He has not made his decision at the moment, but in my opinion, there is no possibility of Yavaş not being a candidate. He cannot back down from candidacy. That is, society wants it; the matter has also gone beyond him.”
“SUPPORT WILL ALSO COME FROM THE AK PARTY”
Arguing that Mansur Yavaş receives support from different segments of society, Üstün said, “The nation has embraced him. All opposition parties, and even the AK Party, will also support him.”
Üstün continued his assessment with these words: “The Black Sea region is one of the places where the AK Party is strongest; there too, people have tremendous problems and troubles regarding the current situation. But citizens do not want a new structure that could act with a sense of revenge to be formed either. They do not want people to be devastated like in the Seferoğulları and Tellioğulları feud. That is why Yavaş seems reasonable to all of them. What we need most right now is a sense of trust in the people who will govern us.”
