Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, regarding municipal mayors changing parties one after another, said, "First, it is necessary to investigate the reason for the party changes. If you investigate the reason, something will come out." Yavaş, who attended the opening of the sports complex in Etimesgut Bağlıca, said that those who change parties will be held accountable at the ballot box, while he will continue to serve all of Ankara with his badge removed.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş attended the opening ceremony of the Cumhuriyet Swimming Pool and Sports Complex, whose construction has been completed in Etimesgut Bağlıca. In his speech at the ceremony, Yavaş said, "We want our children to be introduced to sports at an early age. We want our young people to set goals for themselves and develop their talents. We want them to have opportunities where they can receive the rewards of their efforts. We will continue to work with the understanding that 'it is everyone's right,' and to invest in our children's future, our young people's dreams, and the health of our fellow citizens. May the Cumhuriyet Swimming Pool and Sports Complex be auspicious and beneficial." Yavaş then toured the facility and watched the water polo match and volleyball match played in the pool.
REASONS FOR PARTY SWITCHES SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED
Answering the questions of members of the press, Yavaş said regarding mayors changing parties, "First, the reason for party switches needs to be investigated. If you investigate the reason, something will come out. Because until now, there had not been party switching at such intensity. Therefore, ask this especially to our mayors who changed parties; they will give an answer. If they do not answer, hopefully, in time, the reasons for these will come to light."

Yavaş continued as follows: "Municipal mayors are responsible to the people who elected them. Those who change parties will also give that account at the ballot box. I am not in a position to interfere with someone else's judgment. We are currently independent. We serve the people of Ankara equally. While remaining independent, as is known, there was a split between the Republican People's Party and the New Party. I am referring to the people who voted for one of them without preferring it to the other and brought us to this office; we will continue to serve all of Ankara with our badge removed," he said.
