Selman Alkan, who lives in Sultangazi, Istanbul, left home after leaving a note that read: "Take the belongings and empty the house. I will not return to this house. I am leaving 108 thousand lira here for moving and similar expenses," along with some money. When his relatives who found the note were unable to reach Selman, they filed a missing person report with the police. The Alkan family and neighborhood residents began a search effort with their own means in and around Gazi Forest.
Selman Alkan, living in Sultangazi, Istanbul, disappeared after leaving 108 thousand lira and a note reading "I will not return to this house" at his home. While no news has been received from Alkan, who also left his phone at home, for 6 days, his family filed a missing person report with the police. His relatives and neighborhood residents launched a search operation in Gazi Forest to find the missing man.
RELATIVES WHO FOUND THE NOTE WENT ON ALERT
The incident occurred on Monday, October 12, on 1845 Street in Zübeyde Hanım Neighborhood. Selman Alkan left the house where he lived with his family, leaving some money and a note. The note left by Selman Akman read, 'Take the belongings and empty the house. I will not return to this house. I am leaving 108 thousand lira here for moving and similar expenses. My unemployment benefit will be deposited into the bank.' When his relatives who found the note could not reach Selman, they filed a missing person report with the police. The Alkan family and neighborhood residents launched a search operation in and around Gazi Forest with their own means. His relatives have not heard from Selman Alkan for 6 days.
"INFORMATION WAS GIVEN TO JUDICIAL AUTHORITIES"
Selman Alkan's brother Özgür Alkan said, "We last received information from him on Monday. Information was given to the police station and all judicial places. Support was also requested from AFAD, but right now they are probably in the field due to workload. Thank God, our mukhtar and neighborhood friends, our friends, we have started a search operation among ourselves in the forest. For now, this is the most logical place we can look. We will start from here."
"WE ORGANIZED AMONG OURSELVES"
Neighborhood resident Utku Arif Kavak, who participated in the search efforts, said, "As the people of Gaziosmanpaşa, we started a search operation for Selman Alkan, who has been missing since Monday. We organized among ourselves. He left the house in the morning after leaving a note on Monday. He left his phone at home. We, as the people of Gaziosmanpaşa, started a work based on collective effort among ourselves."
