Martyred Police Officers on Final Journey

"THEY WERE LOYAL SOLDIERS OF THIS SACRED WATCH"

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi spoke at the ceremony, saying:

"He was a brave and courageous police officer, always spoken of with his dedication to duty, leaving a mark in the hearts of his colleagues. Our brother Emrah Koç, a valiant son of Van, held a special place in everyone's heart with his loyalty to the state, work ethic, and high sense of responsibility he demonstrated at a young age. They served under the shadow of our star-and-crescent flag for the peace of our nation. They considered their uniform an honor. They carried the state's trust on their shoulders. They fulfilled their duties as a requirement of loyalty to the homeland, the nation, and sacred values. Policing on these lands is a heavy responsibility. It is seeking shelter in the nation's prayers in the darkness of the night. It is sacrificing one's own peace for the city's peace. It is standing guard at the gate of the homeland when leaving the family's door. Our brother Erkan and our brother Emrah became loyal soldiers of this sacred watch. They joined the ranks of those who gave up their lives, who sacrificed themselves, who fell into the hearth of martyrs. Esteemed families of the martyrs, your pain is too heavy for words to bear. You are facing one of the greatest trials that can fall upon a human heart. You will not be left alone in this trial. You have raised heroes for this nation. May Allah be pleased and satisfied with you for raising such children. May our Lord grant you, and then our dear nation, beautiful patience. May our Lord grant fortitude to your hearts. In our faith, martyrdom is one of the highest stations after prophethood. In our holy book, the Quran, our Lord says: 'Do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah: They are dead. Rather, they are alive, but you do not perceive it.' We believe in this divine good news. As we lay our martyrs to rest, we entrust them to the eternal memory of our nation, your prayers, and our Lord's mercy. Keeping the memory of our martyrs alive and protecting this homeland for which they gave their lives is a debt of honor for all of you. Against any dark intention directed at the peace of these lands, the unity of our nation, and the continuity of our state, you will find our Ministry of Interior. The sacred memory of our brothers Erkan and Emrah places a great responsibility upon us. We will continue our struggle with all our colleagues from where we left off, to honor their sacred memory, for the peace of our nation, and to properly carry the trust of our martyrs. May our Lord treat our dear martyrs, our brothers Erkan Tütüncüler and Emrah Koç, with His mercy. May their places be in paradise and their stations exalted. I extend my condolences to the grieving families, our police department, and our dear nation."
