On World Press Freedom Day, May 3, Haberler.com commemorated journalists who lost their lives in Gaza during a program themed 'Building a Peaceful Future.' The event addressed the challenges of journalism in war zones and global threats to press freedom. Dr. Ekrem Teymur, Chairman of the Board of Haberler.com, highlighted the role of journalists in illuminating the truth in darkness.
Haberler.com hosted a meaningful commemoration program on May 3, World Press Freedom Day, in line with this year's UNESCO theme "Building a Future of Peace." During the emotional program, journalists who lost their lives while carrying out their duties in Gaza were remembered.
PRESS FREEDOM AND JOURNALIST SAFETY DISCUSSED
The commemoration program organized by Haberler.com was attended by professionals and guests from the media and communication community, including Haber 3 General Manager Aydın Özdalga, Ömer Akkoyunlu, journalist Hayrunnisa Çiçek, journalist Esra Bayar, Haberler.com Editor-in-Chief Ayça Elal, and Haberler.com News Director Olgun Kızıltepe.
During the program, important topics such as the challenges of journalism in war zones, especially in Gaza, the global threats facing press freedom, and the safety of journalists were addressed.

The program was moderated by Haberler.com CEO Dr. Sümeyra Teymur.
In her opening speech, Haberler.com Board Chairman Dr. Ekrem Teymur highlighted the journalists who lost their lives while performing their duties in Gaza, emphasizing that press freedom is not merely a professional right of journalists, and stated: "They were the ones holding the light in the midst of darkness. Even if their cameras are broken and their voices silenced, if millions of people today know what happened in Gaza, it is thanks to them. Let us not forget; a pen may break, but ink always finds a way and writes history."
