Former Fenerbahçe footballer and coach Mert Nobre gave a message of support to the yellow-navy team ahead of the Lyon match. Nobre said the yellow-navy team is more quality than Lyon and believes they will advance to the next round.
Fenerbahce will be the guest of French team Lyon today in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off round. Before this match, Mert Nobre, former footballer and coach of Fenerbahce, who was a guest of the Lyon Fenerbahce Supporters' Association, made statements.
''WE WILL WIN!''
Stating that he believes Fenerbahce will qualify for the Champions League, Mert Nobre said, "This is a very important match. Today I am looking at it positively, I believe. We will win. After a long time, we will participate in the Champions League. Fenerbahce is a huge community and cannot stay away from the Champions League for this long. There is a young opponent, but Fenerbahce has experienced players, and this is an advantage. That experience is very important today. We will win, and hopefully, everyone will be happy after the match."
''BOTH THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP ARE VERY IMPORTANT''
Stating that both being in the Champions League and winning the league championship are important for Fenerbahce, Nobre said, "For Fenerbahce, both the Champions League and the championship are very important. I believe they can achieve both this year. Fenerbahce is quite advantageous today against Lyon. It is important not to make mistakes in these matches."
''THE FOREIGNER RULE SHOULD NOT CHANGE EVERY YEAR''
Speaking about the decision taken by the Turkish Football Federation regarding the foreign player limit, Nobre said, "The federation should pay a little more attention to these matters. The foreigner rule should not change every year. There should be a rule, and it should be valid for at least 5 years. If it changes every year, it is very difficult to adapt. We need to be a little more careful. My plan is to become a coach again. I have managed 5-6 teams before. I want to be on the field again."
