Meteorology experts have given a date for the first snowfall in Istanbul.

In the megacity Istanbul, where nearly 20 million people live, citizens have not been able to see the snowfall they have been waiting for years, and this year's weather conditions are also a matter of curiosity.

"THIS YEAR WE WILL HAVE A WINTER WITH LA NINA"

Noting that Turkey will experience a winter with La Nina this year, and therefore there will not be extreme temperatures, CNN Türk Meteorology Consultant Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen made striking evaluations.

"IT WILL SNOW IN ANATOLIA"

Stating that rainfall is expected to be slightly higher than last year from an agricultural perspective, Şen said, "Will it snow? Yes, it will snow in Anatolia; it snowed in Anatolia last year as well. But this year we will see more snowfall in Central Anatolia and towards the west. Will it snow in Istanbul? Of course, this is the most important question. Why is it important? Because nearly 20 million people live in Istanbul. Therefore, when we look at Istanbul, not much snowfall is expected before the New Year," he expressed.

"WE WILL SEE SNOWFALL EASILY"

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that temperatures will remain high in October as well, saying, "In January, we will see a possibility of 1-2 days of snowfall in Istanbul. Will it stick to the ground or not? But we will likely see it in the air. Therefore, it seems that we will spend this winter in this way," he said.
