The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has published its new weather forecast map. Turkey is experiencing both hot and rainy weather at the same time. While scorching heat continues in the southern and central parts of the country, rainy weather that breaks the heat is coming to the northern regions. Meteorology has given specific hours for Istanbul and many provinces.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has published its latest weather forecast map. With the published map, the MGM has given times for thunderstorms and storms in many provinces, including Istanbul.
Air temperatures are expected to increase slightly in inland areas, and to be around seasonal norms across the country, and locally above them. The wind is expected to blow generally from the north, and from the south in southern and eastern regions, lightly and occasionally moderately.
THUNDERSTORMS ARE COMING
According to the MGM's latest assessments, it is forecast that the northern parts of the country and the inland parts of the Mediterranean will be partly and locally very cloudy.
The precipitation, which will show its effect regionally, is expected to be in the form of local showers and thunderstorms in the north of Marmara, the inland parts of the Western Black Sea, the Eastern Black Sea coast, the inland parts of Antalya and Mersin, and the northern parts of Ardahan, Çorum, and Kars.
It is forecast to be partly and very cloudy in the north, with clear skies at times, and starting around noon, Kirklareli, Tekirdag, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bolu, Karabuk, Kastamonu, Rize, Artvin, and Ardahan surroundings will experience short-term and local showers and thunderstorms.
While citizens are advised to be careful against adverse conditions such as floods, inundations, and lightning due to sudden thunderstorms, it is anticipated that clear, partly cloudy, and hot weather will prevail in the remaining large part of the country.
STRONG WIND
According to the latest assessments, it is estimated that today (August 3), between 12:00 and 18:00, the wind blowing from the north will intensify and reach speeds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour, especially on the coasts of Canakkale and Balikesir and throughout the Northern Aegean.
As of Tuesday, the rainy air mass will lose its effect across the Western Black Sea and Marmara, giving way to partly cloudy weather, while precipitation will affect the Eastern Black Sea coast (Rize, Artvin) and the northeast of Eastern Anatolia (Kars, Ardahan).
It is anticipated that the regionally occurring precipitation will continue until the weekend in the form of local showers and thunderstorms in the Inner Aegean (Afyonkarahisar, Usak, Denizli, Kutahya surroundings), the inland parts of the Mediterranean (Isparta, Burdur, Lakes Region, and the highlands of Mersin and Kahramanmaras), the west of Central Anatolia (Eskisehir, Cankiri surroundings), the Eastern Black Sea coast (Trabzon, Rize, Artvin), and Ardahan surroundings.
