MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız stated that keeping prisoners who are seriously ill, disabled, or elderly in prison conditions is contrary to the principles of a democratic rule of law. Yıldız emphasized that detention is not a punishment but a temporary measure, and expressed that universal principles of law must be adhered to in order to ensure justice.

MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız stated, "Those with terminal illnesses cannot be treated under prison conditions. Keeping seriously ill, disabled, and elderly prisoners constantly in prison cannot be the practice of a democratic rule of law."

Feti Yıldız made a striking post on his social media account. Emphasizing that detention is not a punishment but a temporary measure, Yıldız noted that due to its nature as a very severe protective measure that restricts a person's right to freedom and security, the detention measure should be applied under strict conditions, with great care and attention.

"THOSE WITH TERMINAL ILLNESSES CANNOT BE TREATED IN PRISON"

Stating that those with terminal illnesses cannot be treated under prison conditions, Yıldız emphasized that keeping seriously ill, disabled, and elderly prisoners constantly in prison cannot be the responsibility of a democratic rule of law.

Feti Yıldız's statement is as follows: "The only way to reach material truth and justice is to adhere to the universal principles and rules of law. Criminal Procedure rejects reaching the correct result with false evidence. Proof without evidence, even if it fits the material fact, is merely suspicion and conjecture.

Like all judicial measures, detention is also temporary in nature. Detention is not a punishment but a temporary tool that ensures reaching material truth, conducting the criminal case, or executing a possible future sentence. Because it is a very severe protective measure that restricts a person's right to freedom and security, the detention measure must be applied under strict conditions, with great care and attention. Those with terminal illnesses cannot be treated under prison conditions.

"ENSURING JUSTICE IS NOT A MATTER OF WORDS BUT ACTION"

Keeping seriously ill, disabled, and elderly prisoners constantly in prison cannot be the practice of a democratic rule of law. Ensuring justice is not a matter of words but of action. The realization of justice must also be seen in its realization. We see this warning in the letter that Hazrat Omar wrote to Emir Musa, whom he appointed as the governor of Basra, in terms of identifying and delivering rights. According to Hazrat Omar; there is no benefit in stating a right that is not applied or in giving a judgment that is not executed."
