MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız stated regarding the commission's visit to İmralı, "As the People's Alliance and with the contribution of DEM, we will go to İmralı. The party that will not provide a member to the delegation should share its reasons with the public before Friday." Yıldız, who noted that it would not be appropriate to speak in advance about legal regulations, commented on the Right to Hope, saying, "When the conditions are fully met, the way to utilize the Right to Hope will certainly be opened."
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, and National Intelligence Organization President İbrahim Kalın presented at the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission meeting, where it was decided to hold a vote on visiting Imralı Prison on Friday at 14:00. MHP member Feti Yıldız stated after the meeting that, "We will gather on Friday and will go to Imralı as soon as possible."
"A VISIT TO IMRALI IS PLANNED WITHIN A FEW DAYS"
Speaking to Bengü Türk TV, Yıldız said, "The issue of whether to go to Imralı has not been the topic of this week; it has been on the agenda for three weeks. As group leaders, we have been discussing this matter among ourselves under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Parliament. Ultimately, an agreement was reached. We decided to hold the vote on Friday. A two-thirds majority is needed for the vote. This number is sufficient at the moment. Therefore, when I was asked, I clearly stated that the decision would be in favor of going. Without prolonging it, we will go to Imralı Island within a few days to take statements from the founder of the terrorist organization, listen to what he has to say, and return. What we will do here is to take the statements of a person who has managed the organization for 45 years in an environment where we listen to everyone."
"NO BARGAINING WILL TAKE PLACE"
Yıldız continued his remarks:
When we go there, no bargaining or similar activities will take place regarding any issue. We know almost all opinions. Legal arrangements will be shared with the public alongside a report after the condition of disbanding the organization and laying down arms is fully met.
"IF THERE IS NO UNANIMITY, WE WILL DECIDE BY MAJORITY"
When we look at the examples of other countries that have fought against terrorism and ended conflict processes, we see that negotiations lasting about 6-7 years have concluded in a very short time in our commission. This is a significant achievement. A terrorism-free Turkey model will be an example to the world.
Yes, there will be a visit to Imralı. We state this clearly. There will be a visit to Imralı. As the People's Alliance and, of course, with the contribution of the DEM, there will be a visit to Imralı. I think the party that will not participate and will not provide a member to the delegation should share its reasons with the public before Friday. I believe that society will see the excuses of those who claim to be making efforts to resolve this issue. With all my goodwill, I believe that a decision will be made unanimously. If there is no unanimity, we will decide by majority. There will definitely not be a decision against going, as we have discussed the negotiations among ourselves many times before.
"THERE IS NO SLIGHTEST DISAGREEMENT BETWEEN MHP AND AK PARTY"
Regarding claims that the AK Party has reservations about going to Imralı, Yıldız said, "This is not true. Let me be clear: There is not the slightest disagreement between MHP and AK Party regarding a terrorism-free Turkey."
"THE WAY TO USE THE RIGHT OF HOPE WILL OF COURSE BE OPENED"
In response to a question about legal arrangements, Yıldız said, "It would not be appropriate for me to say something in advance. There will certainly be an arrangement. As we have said from the beginning, a regulation on execution is necessary. The Right of Hope, which our leader has stated conditionally, will also be opened when the conditions are fully met."
WHAT IS THE RIGHT OF HOPE?
The Right of Hope is a right that is based on protecting human dignity and includes the possibility of being released one day for individuals sentenced to life imprisonment.
BAHÇELİ HAD SAID, "I WILL TAKE 3 FRIENDS WITH ME"
While discussions continue regarding the commission established within the framework of a terrorism-free Turkey process to visit PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli stated at his party's group meeting, "If necessary, I will go to Imralı. I will take three friends with me; I will not hesitate to go."
