Deputy Chairman of the MHP and Istanbul Deputy Feti Yıldız, regarding the Law Proposal on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, said, 'The proposal is not a regulation that eliminates conviction provisions, changes the legal nature of crimes, or terminates criminal liability. Some of our colleagues have fallen so far from reality that they claim this is an amnesty without even reading the letter and justification of the law.'
Yıldız took the floor at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly regarding the entirety of the Draft Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion.
Noting that no new fires have fallen on hearths since the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on 22 October 2024, Yıldız emphasized that with the will of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a Terrorism-Free Turkey has become a state policy. Yıldız thanked TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş for his support during the process.
A HANDSHAKE OPENING A NEW DOOR
Yıldız stated that they are about to send terrorism to the dark dump of history, and underscored that terrorism deeply shakes social stability.
Yıldız emphasized that the handshake between MHP Chairman Bahçeli and DEM Party deputies at the TBMM also opened a new door.
Yıldız stated that the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established at the TBMM has undertaken important tasks regarding the climate of reconciliation, and recalled that the commission prepared its report after its work.
Feti Yıldız used the expression, "A Terrorism-Free Turkey means peace and tranquility, democracy and liberty, and brotherhood."
"WE STAND BEHIND A TERRORISM-FREE TURKEY TO THE END"
Stating that the Terrorism-Free Turkey process will proceed according to a predetermined plan, Yıldız announced that measures aimed at a thousand years of brotherhood and common living will be supported by the MHP.
Yıldız, stating that they stand with a Terrorism-Free Turkey, noted the following:
"With the aim of protecting history, our ancestors, and martyrs, embracing a common future, uniting around national values, preserving national unity, national identity, and the national state, and keeping alive a thousand years of brotherhood, we stand behind a Terrorism-Free Turkey to the end. The proposal is not a regulation that eliminates conviction provisions, changes the legal nature of crimes, or ends criminal responsibility. Some of our friends, without reading the letter and justification of the law, fall so far from reality as to claim this is an amnesty. Ongoing investigation and prosecution processes, along with finalized conviction provisions, remain fully in effect; no change is proposed or envisaged regarding the nature of the crime, the conviction decision, or criminal responsibility. There is a claim that this is a 'special amnesty.' For the law by which we released people for 3-5 years during the COVID leave, you would also seek a qualified majority; none of you would want to fall into that situation. When explaining a matter, you will either learn or consult. However, if you get opinions from those who have disputes with the President and the People's Alliance, you will be exposed."
Discussions on the entirety of the proposal continue at the General Assembly.
