Slovenian star Miha Zajc, who plays for Dinamo Zagreb, stated that he does not want to return to the Slovenia National Team as long as coach Matjaz Kek, who did not include him in the EURO 2024 squad, is in charge. He said, "I have not closed the door on the national team. We will see what happens, but in the current situation, I do not see myself as part of the national team."
Miha Zajc, a former Fenerbahçe player and currently playing for the Croatian team Dinamo Zagreb, made striking statements regarding the national team.

Miha Zajc stated that he does not want to play for the Slovenia National Team as long as Matjaz Kek, the Slovenian coach who did not include him in the EURO 2024 squad, is in charge.

The 31-year-old midfielder made statements regarding this issue, saying, "When I was not included in the EURO 2024 squad, I made a statement expressing exactly what I thought about the situation. I played more than 30 matches that season, started in 21 of them, and reached the quarter-finals in the Conference League. It is hard for me to accept the claim that the reason for my exclusion was a lack of playing time or poor form. After wearing the national team jersey for years, if you are playing for Fenerbahçe and participating in so many matches, you deserve to be at the European Championship." he said.
"I WILL NOT RETURN AS LONG AS HE IS THERE"
Miha Zajc, who stated that he does not consider returning to the national team as long as Kek is there, said, "Playing for Slovenia is a big deal. However, there needs to be an atmosphere where you would be happy to be there, including the relationship with the coach. It is no secret that we see football differently from each other, and our relationship was not very good. However, we both acted professionally. I think the focus should now be on the players who are there. Maybe I did not always get my chance in the national team, but the playing system was definitely not suitable for me. The coach called me recently and asked if I would return. I told him it was not the right time and that I did not know how I could help. Nothing has changed in the national team. I do not understand what would be different now. I will not return as long as he is there." he expressed.

Zajc, who has worn the national team jersey 39 times so far, lastly stated, "I still support Slovenia, and if there is a desire for change and vision in the future, I have not closed the door to the national team. We will see what will happen, but in the current situation, I do not see myself as part of the national team." he said.
