Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi spoke about the operation carried out against the leader of the Süleymancılar, Alihan Kuriş. Çiftçi said, 'This was an operation we had been working on for some time. Last night, we discussed and evaluated this matter with our Minister of Justice. And this morning, the button was pressed for the operation. They are building a large center in Cologne, Germany. We also assess that once this building is completed, all of their activities will be moved there.'
Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi is answering questions from NTV Ankara Representative Ahmet Ergen on NTV live broadcast.
The highlights of Minister Çiftçi's statements are as follows:
An operation was carried out against the Alihan Kuriş criminal organization. It is still a recent development; simultaneous operations were conducted in Ankara, Sakarya, and Antalya on charges of laundering assets derived from crime, fraud, and violating the tax law. As a result, 30 suspects, including Alihan Kuriş, were detained; three individuals are abroad, and efforts to apprehend 10 individuals are ongoing.
“OPERATION TARGETS THE ORGANIZATION'S FINANCIAL NETWORKS”
Alihan Kuriş took over the leadership of this organization in 2016. Or rather, let's say he took over the movement. With him taking over the movement, activities began to be carried out with more secrecy. They are establishing a large center in Cologne, Germany. We assess that once this building is completed, all of their activities will be moved there. Therefore, this is an operation targeting the organization's financial networks.
