Following the school attacks in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, legal action has been taken against numerous individuals in the investigation into provocative posts made on social media. In his statement on the matter, Minister Gürlek said, '67 users who targeted 54 schools have been detained, and legal proceedings against them are ongoing.'

Following the school attacks in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, a large-scale operation has been initiated against provocative posts on social media. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, making a statement regarding the process, announced that action has been taken against numerous accounts.

INVESTIGATION INTO 130 ACCOUNT HOLDERS

Minister Gürlek stated that the investigations conducted by the Kahramanmaraş and Siverek Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices are continuing in a multifaceted manner. He announced that accounts which shared footage of the incident despite the broadcast ban, disseminated content that could create fear and panic among the public, circulated misleading information, and made posts glorifying the crime have been identified. Within this scope, it was reported that investigations have been launched against 130 account holders by 55 Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, 95 people have been detained, and efforts to capture 35 people are ongoing.

ACCESS BLOCK ON 1,104 ACCOUNTS

Within the scope of the investigation, access to 1,104 social media accounts has been blocked. Furthermore, users who made posts indicating attacks by targeting schools were also identified. Within this framework, it was stated that 67 people who targeted 54 schools have been detained and legal proceedings against them are continuing.

CLOSE MONITORING OF DIGITAL CONTENT

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has instructed the General Directorate of Security's Department of Combating Cybercrime to detect and take precautions against digital content and platforms that could direct children to violence. It was noted that the process is being monitored by 171 Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices across 81 provinces in Turkey and is being carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of National Education.

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, conveying the details of the efforts, used the following statements:

"Regarding the school attacks that occurred in our provinces of Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, investigations are being carried out in a multifaceted manner by our Kahramanmaraş and Siverek Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices. Numerous accounts have been identified that shared footage of the incident despite the broadcast ban; disseminated content that could create fear, anxiety, and panic among the public; openly circulated misleading information aimed at discrediting official statements; and glorified the crime and the criminal, encouraging the commission of crimes. Within this scope, investigations have been launched against 130 account holders by 55 of our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, and 95 people have been detained.

Efforts to capture 35 people are ongoing, and access to 1,104 social media accounts has also been blocked. Additionally, accounts that created unease in the public by making posts indicating attacks by targeting schools have been identified; within this framework, 67 users who targeted 54 schools have been detained, and legal proceedings against them are continuing. By our Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; instructions have also been given to the General Directorate of Security's Department of Combating Cybercrime for the purpose of detecting and taking measures against digital content and platforms that could direct our children to violence.
