Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek attended the Digital Media Workshop organized by the Turkish Internet Journalism Association (TİGAD) in Iğdır. In his speech there, Gürlek stated that a social media regulation would be made in October, drawing attention to disinformation on social media.
The Association of Internet Journalism of Turkey (TIGAD) is holding the 13th Digital Media Workshop, which it has made traditional, in Iğdır between August 6–10, 2026. The organization comprehensively addresses the future of digital media and the transformation of internet journalism.
Approximately 150 journalists, media executives, academics, and industry representatives from all over Turkey came together at the workshop, which was also attended by Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, Chairman of the Board of Haberler.com Ekrem Teymur, and Attorney Bedia Teymur, Editor-in-Chief of Haberler.com.
MINISTER'S SUPPORT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE "TURKISH JOURNALISTS' UNION"
Minister Gürlek, who chatted with the journalists attending the workshop, asked the press members for support for the "Terror-Free Turkey" process.
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that they will provide all kinds of support for the efforts initiated under the leadership of TIGAD to establish the "Turkish Journalists' Union."
SOCIAL MEDIA REGULATION IS COMING
In his speech, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that the internet press is a power and noted that a social media regulation will be made in October.
Gürlek also drew attention to disinformation on social media and emphasized that TIGAD carries out important work against disinformation.
