Justice Minister Gürlek, who met with the father of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, who went missing in 2024 and was found dead, stated regarding the investigation, 'As the state, we will pursue this matter to the end. Rojin's phone will be sent to China for technical examination.'
Rojin Kabaiş, a 21-year-old university student who disappeared on September 27, 2024, in Van and was found dead on October 15, 2024, had her father Nizamettin Kabaiş meet with Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek.
PREVIOUSLY SENT TO SPAIN
After the meeting, Minister Gürlek stated, "Rojin is a young girl whose future, hopes, and dreams were cut short in the prime of her life. As a state, we will pursue this matter to the end." Gürlek, who mentioned that Rojin's phone, which was sent to Spain, would also be sent to China, listened to the demands of the family and lawyers.
DEPARTMENT FOR INVESTIGATION OF UNSOLVED CRIMES INVOLVED
Minister Gürlek stated that the Department for Investigation of Unsolved Crimes was activated to solve Rojin Kabaiş's death, saying, "We do not conduct investigations at the Department; I emphasize this. All of our colleagues here are experienced experts in criminal law. We look at the files from a different perspective, especially staying in contact with our prosecutor, and with the families and lawyers. If there is new evidence, if a special team needs to be formed—for example, we formed a special team for Tunceli; for this case, let's look at a narrowed base. We do not have investigative authority, but we technically support the authority conducting the investigation. We make our families feel that the state is interested in this case and that it must be pursued to the end."
"WE TRUST OUR STATE AND JUSTICE"
Father Nizamettin Kabaiş thanked Minister Gürlek for their interest and support, saying, "We have always trusted our state, you, and justice. We are very hopeful." Kabaiş stated, "My daughter was very innocent," and requested that the perpetrators of the incident be identified. At the end of the meeting, Minister Gürlek said that the points highlighted by the family and lawyers would also be meticulously examined by the relevant department.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Justice Can Tuncay, General Director of Criminal Affairs Hazım Aslancı, and Deputy General Director of Criminal Affairs Ömer Demirci.
