A striking development has occurred regarding the new pension regulation awaited by millions of retirees. Former AK Party MP Şamil Tayyar, who met with Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, announced that the new model has been prepared to take effect as of January 1, 2027. Tayyar conveyed that Minister Işıkhan told him, "The good news will be announced by our President."
As millions of retirees await salary increases, welfare share, and additional payments, an important statement has come regarding the new pension model the government is working on. Former AK Party MP Şamil Tayyar shared details of his meeting with Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan.
Tayyar, noting that preparations for the new pension model are ongoing, said that Minister Işıkhan is quite excited about the regulation.
“OUR PRESIDENT WILL ANNOUNCE THE GOOD NEWS”
Tayyar, stating that he discussed the new pension model with Minister Işıkhan, said, “I spoke with our Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan just now. We had a nice conversation about the new pension model.”
Tayyar, relaying that during the meeting Minister Işıkhan told him, “Our esteemed President will announce the good news,” noted that the regulation will be concretized at the Economic Coordination Council chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
Tayyar stated that before the parliamentary stage, the work will be submitted to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for a final decision.
JANUARY 1, 2027 DATE FOR THE NEW PENSION REGULATION
Also providing information about the planned date for the new pension model to enter into force, Tayyar relayed that Minister Işıkhan said they are preparing the regulation to be effective as of January 1, 2027.
However, the scope of the regulation and the financial opportunities to be provided to retirees have not yet been finalized.
Tayyar, stating that he asked Minister Işıkhan about some claims reflected in public, explained that he received the response, “There is no finalized decision at the moment, and we do not plan to make a statement before it is finalized.”
OPTION OF WELFARE SHARE AND ADDITIONAL PAYMENT FOR RETIREMENT SALARIES
Within the scope of the new pension regulation, options such as granting a welfare share in addition to salary increases and raising the lowest retirement pension through complementary payments are being evaluated.
Among the models being worked on are setting a common lower limit for all retirees and making additional payments to retirees receiving low salaries.
It is expected that different support options will be considered in line with retirees’ cities of residence, economic situations, and needs.
ERDOĞAN HAD GIVEN A MESSAGE FOR RETIREES
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also stated in his statement after the cabinet meeting that work is being carried out to improve the economic conditions of retirees.
Erdoğan had used the expressions, “In the 2027 budget, we are creating financial opportunities that will improve the situation of our retirees, the crown of our heads.”
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz also said in his statement at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Plan and Budget Committee that they are working on many alternatives to improve the situation of retirees.

Tayyar, stating that he left his meeting with Minister Işıkhan with positive impressions, used the expressions, “From this conversation, I got the impression that there will be a work with a high satisfaction rate for retirees.”
Tayyar, noting that the final version of the new pension model will be announced by President Erdoğan, said, “We will also wait for our President’s statement to hear the final version of the proposal. I hope it will be auspicious.”
