WHAT HAPPENED?
Teachers who are members of the Private Sector Teachers Union had launched an action in front of the Ministry of National Education in Ankara, demanding the reintroduction of the base salary practice in private schools, higher wages, secure working conditions, and improvement of personal rights. When their demands were not met, some teachers began an indefinite hunger strike. The teachers, seeking fair pay for equal work compared to public school teachers, job security, and improved working conditions, announced that they would continue their action until their rights are guaranteed.
