According to the Ministry's statement, within the scope of the investigation file numbered 2025/15700 by the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Terror and Constitutional Crimes Bureau, Temel Demirer and Sibel Özbudun Demirer were apprehended and detained on July 5, 2026, under the charge of "membership in an armed terrorist organization."
FINDINGS REGARDING TEMEL DEMIRER
The statement indicated that Temel Demirer was among the writers of the Kaldıraç Magazine, which is stated to be under the direction of the DSİH terrorist organization, had contacts with detainees and convicts linked to the DHKP/C structure TAYAD, and his name appeared in judicial investigations against these organizations.
The Ministry also reported that between 2007 and 2026, there were a total of 18 judicial records against Demirer under charges including "establishing, managing, or being a member of an armed terrorist organization," "making propaganda for a terrorist organization," "praising crime and the criminal," and "insulting the President."
ASSESSMENT REGARDING SIBEL ÖZBUDUN DEMIRER
The statement noted that Sibel Özbudun Demirer worked as a faculty member at Hacettepe University before leaving her position in 2010.
The Ministry conveyed that Özbudun Demirer was determined to have participated in meetings, panels, forums, and similar events organized by formations alleged to be linked to left-wing terrorist organizations, primarily the DHKP/C.
Additionally, it was stated that between 2011 and 2026, there were 5 judicial records against Sibel Özbudun Demirer under charges of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization" and "praising crime and the criminal," and her name also appeared in judicial proceedings against the DHKP/C and DSİH organizations.
