DISTRICT GOVERNORSHIP ANNOUNCED, BUT THE BAN WAS VIOLATED
Due to unfavorable sea conditions, heavy waves, and rip currents, the Şile District Governorship banned swimming entirely on all beaches except Ayazma Beach and Ağva Central Beach as of 11:00 local time. However, immediately after the ban, the first tragic news came from the Sofular Cave area. Following the report that 24-year-old İsa Bodur, who entered the sea to cool off, disappeared among the waves, Coast Guard Command teams were dispatched to the region.
SUCCESSIVE REPORTS OF MISSING PERSONS
While search efforts in Sofular had just begun, a second tragic report came from the Akçakese Köy Ağzı area. It was reported that Ahmet Can Yavuz and Umut Gümüş, who had entered the sea, were swept away by the current. With reports coming in one after another, Coast Guard boats, divers, and aerial support teams launched a race against time at both locations.
AHMET CAN'S LIFELESS BODY RECOVERED
As a result of intensive search activities carried out at Akçakese Beach, Ahmet Can Yavuz's lifeless body was recovered around 13:30. The body of the unfortunate young man was taken aboard a Coast Guard boat and brought to shore, then transported to the Şile State Hospital morgue for autopsy procedures.
Wide-scale search and rescue operations from the sea, air, and land are still ongoing to find İsa Bodur, who went missing at the Sofular Cave area, and Umut Gümüş, who was swept away by waves at the Akçakese Köy Ağzı area.
