A mentally disabled person, missing for 4 days in Aydın's Kuyucak district, was found dead in a fire extinguishing pond.

A mentally disabled person, who had been missing for 4 days in the Kuyucak district of Aydın, was found dead in a fire-fighting pond.

According to the information obtained, Ahmet Açıkkol (31), a mentally disabled individual living in the rural Gencelli neighborhood, left his home on April 30 and was not heard from again. After the searches conducted by his relatives in the area yielded no results, the situation was reported to the authorities. Following the report, a large-scale search operation was launched on the evening of May 1 by teams dispatched to the region. A team of approximately 80 people, consisting of gendarmerie forces, AFAD, various non-governmental organizations, and volunteers, conducted intensive work in the rural area and its surroundings.

Teams from the Nazilli Disaster and Emergency (NAFAD), operating under the Nazilli Municipality, also supported the efforts. As a result of the days-long search, Ahmet Açıkkol was found motionless in the fire-fighting pond. A medical examination determined that Açıkkol had lost his life. While the family and neighborhood residents who received the tragic news experienced great sorrow, an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
