In the Görele district of Giresun, more than 700 people applied to the hospital with suspected gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach lining) in the last 3 days. While most of the patients were discharged, 3 people were taken under treatment. In the initial examinations, no common source was found, water samples were taken, and it was announced that Ministry of Health teams would come to the district.
It has been learned that more than 700 people have applied to hospitals in the last 3 days in the Görele district of Giresun due to a suspected gastroenteritis outbreak. It was reported that most of the patients were discharged, while 3 people were taken under treatment.
INCREASE IN DIARRHEA AND VOMITING COMPLAINTS
Health teams took action as there was an increase in the number of people applying to hospitals in the district in recent days with complaints such as diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain and cramps, fever, weakness, and loss of appetite. A study has been initiated to determine the source of cases suspected of gastroenteritis.
MORE THAN 700 PEOPLE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL
According to the information obtained, more than 700 people applied to hospital emergency services with various complaints in the last three days. It was stated that most of the patients were discharged after outpatient treatment. It was learned that a total of 3 patients, 2 of whom were children and 1 an adult, were hospitalized for treatment, while the follow-up and treatment of the other patients continue.
WATER SAMPLES WERE TAKEN
In the initial assessments made by health teams, it was reported that no common exposure or clustering was detected among the cases. It was stated that in daily checks conducted on the district's city network water, the residual chlorine value was at a sufficient level, approximately 0.5 ppm.
While water samples were taken from monitoring points where case density was observed and an investigation was initiated, it was noted that the process is being closely followed and routine surveillance data continues to be monitored.
On the other hand, it was learned that efforts to determine the cause and possible source of the cases are ongoing, and teams from the Ministry of Health will also come to the district to conduct examinations on the matter.
