The liter price of diesel is expected to increase by 8.24 TL starting Friday, September 4. With this increase, which means a rise of approximately 10 percent overnight, the liter price of diesel will exceed 90 TL in Ankara and Izmir, and the cost of a 50-liter tank will increase by 412 TL.
The resurgence of tensions between the US and Iran and Ukraine's attacks on oil refineries in Russia have increased supply concerns in global oil markets. These developments are expected to be reflected in fuel prices in Turkey as a high-rate hike.
According to information obtained from industry sources, a hike of 8.24 TL per liter is expected for diesel. The price increase is projected to be reflected at the pump from 00:01 on the night connecting Thursday, September 3, to Friday, September 4.
NEARLY 10 PERCENT INCREASE IN A SINGLE NIGHT
The expected hike of 8.24 TL means an increase of approximately 10 percent in the diesel price per liter in a single night.
Following the hike, the diesel price per liter is expected to rise to 89.32 TL on the European side of Istanbul, 90.73 TL in Ankara, and 90.71 TL in Izmir.
EXTRA COST OF 412 TL FOR A 50-LITER TANK
The hike will also significantly increase the amount vehicle owners will pay for a full tank. If the expected increase of 8.24 TL for diesel occurs, the cost of a 50-liter tank will be 412 TL more.
Accordingly, the additional cost for a 50-liter diesel tank solely due to the hike will exceed 400 TL.
THE 90 TL THRESHOLD WILL BE EXCEEDED IN ANKARA AND IZMIR
The expected diesel prices after the hike are as follows:
Istanbul European Side: 89.32 TL
Ankara: 90.73 TL
Izmir: 90.71 TL
Thus, if the expected hike occurs, the diesel price per liter in Ankara and Izmir will have exceeded the 90 TL threshold.
