37-year-old police officer Özgür Akçay, who was newly assigned to the Döşemealtı district of Antalya, was found shot in the head at his home, where he had moved 3 days ago. In the incident, noticed when his brother, unable to open the door, looked in from the balcony using a forklift, it was determined that Akçay had lost his life. While it was learned that his wife and two children were in Burdur, an investigation was launched into the incident. It has not yet been clarified whether the event was a murder or a suicide.

The incident occurred at noon in an apartment on the first floor of a building on 106th Street in Yeniköy Neighborhood. Özgür Akçay, a father of two, who was transferred from Gümüşhane to the Döşemealtı District Police Department, had moved into his new home in the district 3 days ago.

His brother, who could not reach Özgür Akçay, who was last known to have spoken with his aunt, went to the house. When the door would not open, Akçay's brother looked through the balcony window with a forklift and saw his brother lying motionless on the floor.
Police and medical teams were dispatched to the address upon the report. In the inspection conducted after entering the house with a locksmith, it was determined that Özgür Akçay had lost his life. Akçay's body, which had a single bullet wound to the head, was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue after the examination.
It was learned that Özgür Akçay's wife and 2 children were in Burdur and came to the district upon hearing the news.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
