NARİN GÜRAN MURDER

In the case regarding the murder of Narin Güran, who disappeared on August 21, 2024, in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's central Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found on September 8, 2024, in the Eğertutmaz Creek, the detained defendants—mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran—were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "premeditated murder of a child through joint participation," while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime." The Diyarbakır Regional Court of Justice's 1st Criminal Chamber found the first-instance court's verdict against the defendants lawful.[6:47 PM]The Court of Cassation's Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had requested the approval of the aggravated life sentences for mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran, as well as the 4-year and 6-month prison sentence for Nevzat Bahtiyar in the Narin Güran murder case.

The 1st Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation upheld the aggravated life imprisonment sentences for the detained defendants Yüksel, Enes, and Salim Güran, while overturning the 4-year and 6-month prison sentence for Nevzat Bahtiyar for reconsideration under "aiding qualified intentional murder."

The court panel decided on April 16 that the retried neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar would be sentenced to 17 years in prison for "aiding qualified intentional murder" and that his pre-trial detention would continue.
