In phone call, Biden, NATO chief Stoltenberg discuss transatlantic alliance, collective security, says NATO statement.

In a phone call, the chief of NATO on Monday congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden and also discussed with him the transatlantic alliance and collective security.

"NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke with Joe Biden on Monday (23 November 2020) to congratulate him on his election as the next President of the United States and Kamala Harris as the next Vice-President," said a NATO statement.

The pair discussed "the importance of our transatlantic Alliance as the cornerstone of our collective security."

"The Secretary General told President-elect Biden that he looked forward to working very closely with him to further strengthen the bond between North America and Europe and to prepare next year's meeting of NATO leaders," it added. -
