HIGH-LEVEL MEASURES IN ANKARA BEFORE THE NATO SUMMIT
Temporary bans have also been imposed on public events across the city during the summit week. During the specified dates, public organizations such as concerts, weddings, graduations, and festivals will not be allowed in Ankara. Additionally, to address potential traffic and security risks, mass exams scheduled for the same period have been postponed to a later date.
"OFFICIALS IN 9 DISTRICTS ON LEAVE FOR 1 WEEK"
The statement from the Governorship on the matter is as follows: "By the letter of the Presidential General Secretariat (Directorate General of Personnel and Principles) dated 23.05.2026 and numbered 384551 regarding the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, due to the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in our city on July 7-8, 2026, it has been deemed appropriate that, provided that measures are taken to ensure the continuation of activities of public institutions and organizations and that necessary personnel are kept to carry out essential services, all public institutions and organizations within the borders of Altındağ, Çankaya, Etimesgut, Gölbaşı, Keçiören, Mamak, Pursaklar, Sincan, and Yenimahalle districts will have their personnel, except those assigned to the Summit and those serving in critical service areas that directly affect the Summit process, considered on administrative leave for the week of July 6-12, 2026.
Furthermore, considering areas such as health, security, transportation, infrastructure, communication, firefighting, emergency, and disaster management within the specified borders where continuity is deemed beneficial, it is requested that the details of the administrative leave application for personnel working in provincial organizations/service units be determined by our Governorship, that events such as exams, symposia, panels, graduation ceremonies, festivals, concerts, entertainment, celebrations, and similar activities not be planned throughout the city during the said week, that all necessary support, assistance, and convenience required for the Summit be provided by relevant public institutions and organizations, and that necessary measures be taken to prevent any disruption in practice during the Summit.
In this context, personnel working in units operating in areas deemed essential, such as health, security, immigration, transportation, logistics, 112 Emergency Call Center, infrastructure, communication, firefighting, emergency, and disaster management, will not be considered on administrative leave and will continue their duties. In other units, sufficient personnel will be kept to carry out urgent and essential services during the administrative leave period and to prevent our citizens from being victimized, and unit supervisors will take necessary measures according to the sensitivity of their institutions.
EXAMS, CONCERTS, AND WEDDINGS CANCELLED
On the other hand, between Monday, July 6, 2026, at 06:00 and Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 24:00, events such as exams, symposia, panels, graduation ceremonies, festivals, concerts, entertainment, celebrations, and similar public events organized by our public institutions and organizations and non-governmental organizations have been suspended. Additionally, during these dates, on the routes whose details will be determined and announced by our security units, in and around the hotel area where guests are staying, and in the region where the Presidential Complex and ATO Congresium Congress and Exhibition Center are located, any activities that disrupt traffic, cause collective movements or gatherings of our citizens, or pose a security risk will not be allowed, whether private or official, indoor or outdoor.
Weddings and similar events outside the above-mentioned sensitive areas are excluded from the ban. Such events within the sensitive areas are subject to the permission of the district governorate where the event will take place. Additional measures will be taken and announced when necessary.
It is requested that all necessary support, assistance, and convenience required for the Summit be provided by the relevant public institutions and organizations, that no disruption in practice be allowed, and that necessary measures be taken and announced as soon as possible to prevent our citizens from being victimized. I submit and request your information and action in this regard."
