3.8 TONS OF SPOILED MEAT AND FISH SEIZED
Teams conducted simultaneous inspections at the businesses. During the inspection of one business's warehouse, 2.8 tons of red meat, whose origin was unknown and had been refrozen after spoiling, along with 1 ton of spoiled and unreliable fish species such as sea bass, sea bream, salmon, and sole were seized.
FINANCIAL PENALTY FOR THE BUSINESS
Officials from the Konak District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry imposed a total administrative fine of 336,902 TL on the business under Law No. 5996. Additionally, a further fine of 37,770 TL was imposed for having sole fish during the prohibited fishing season, in accordance with the Fisheries Law No. 1380. The warehouse and cold storage were sealed, and administrative and legal proceedings were initiated.
"INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE STRICTLY"
In a statement regarding the issue, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Mustafa Şahin, said that inspections would continue strictly in all districts to ensure citizens' access to safe food. Samples were taken from the 'mixed beef and lamb döner' and 'cooked chicken döner' products offered for sale at the other business mentioned in the tip-off. It will be determined whether the products comply with regulations through laboratory analyses.
