Since October 7, 2023, Israel has continued its attacks in the Gaza Strip in front of the whole world, while also denying the destruction and brutality it has caused.
THEY CALLED THE HOSPITAL ATTACK THAT KILLED 20 PEOPLE A 'MISTAKE'
Most recently, the Israeli Prime Ministry described the attack on Nasser Hospital, which resulted in the deaths of 20 Palestinians, including 5 journalists and 5 healthcare workers, as a 'tragic mistake.' In a statement from the Prime Ministry, it was expressed, "Israel is deeply saddened by the tragic mistake that occurred today at Nasser Hospital in Gaza. Israel values the work of journalists, healthcare personnel, and all civilians. Our only goal is to defeat Hamas and bring our hostages home."
DEFENSE OF 'ACTIVE WAR ZONE' FOR THE KILLED JOURNALISTS
On the other hand, Israeli Army Spokesperson Effie Defrin claimed in a press statement that the army did not 'intentionally target' civilians in the Gaza Strip. Regarding the 246 journalists killed since October 7, 2023, in Gaza, Defrin stated, "Reporting from an active war zone like Gaza carries very significant risks."
NO JUSTIFICATION PROVIDED
Despite having immunity under international law, Defrin, who claimed to be "sorry for the harm caused to individuals not involved in the incident" regarding the attack on Nasser Hospital, did not provide any justification for why they carried out the attack.
ISRAELI ARMY TARGETED NASSER HOSPITAL
The Israeli army had carried out two consecutive attacks on Nasser Hospital located in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, in the morning. While search and rescue operations were ongoing, the second attack on Nasser Hospital was broadcast live by Egyptian television. The recordings showed that the Israeli army targeted the civilian search and rescue team trying to evacuate the dead and injured in the first attack, as well as journalists trying to capture footage.
In a written statement from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, it was reported that 20 Palestinians, including 5 journalists and 5 healthcare workers, lost their lives in the attacks on Nasser Hospital.
The Israeli army, which has killed 246 journalists in Gaza to date, claimed in a written statement that they did not directly target journalists and announced that an investigation into the incident had been initiated.
