The co-chair of the HDP parliamentary group, Sezai Temelli, made important statements at a press conference in the Parliament. Emphasizing brotherhood on the occasion of the anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory, Temelli said, "Malazgirt is a gateway to brotherhood. However, despite a thousand years passing, the rights of this brotherhood have not been realized."
DEM Party Group Deputy Chairman Sezai Temelli held a press conference in the Parliament where he made evaluations regarding the agenda. In his speech on the anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory, Temelli emphasized brotherhood and also gave striking messages regarding the commission work being carried out in the Parliament.
"THERE IS A NEED FOR EQUAL CITIZENSHIP LAW"
Referring to the historical significance of Malazgirt, Temelli stated, "Malazgirt is a gate of brotherhood. However, despite a thousand years passing, the law of this brotherhood has not been realized. There are 25 million Kurds living in this country, and there are more than 5 million families formed from Kurdish-Turkish marriages. This bond is strong, but it still lacks a legal framework. That is the law of equal citizenship," he expressed.
"THE COMMISSION SHOULD NOT BE DELAYED, IT SHOULD PREPARE DRAFTS"
Highlighting the duties of the commission, Temelli said, "Listening to the delegations is important, but that is not the main job. What the commission should primarily do is to prepare drafts that will quickly implement the legal regulations needed during this period. There is a need for dedicated and meticulous work in this regard," he stated.
"DENYING KURDISH IS A GREAT SHAME"
Criticizing the rejection of the Peace Mothers' requests to speak in Kurdish in the commission, Temelli remarked, "There are 25 million Kurds living in this country. Many families lead a multilingual life. Practices that deny Kurdish are a great shame. This shame must come to an end," he said.
"NO PROGRESS CAN BE MADE WITHOUT MEETING ÖCALAN"
Arguing that the commission needs to meet with Abdullah Öcalan to take steps regarding the Kurdish issue, Temelli asserted, "The commission must regularly meet with Mr. Öcalan. He is the main interlocutor of the issue. It is not possible to make progress without this meeting," he expressed.
"THE TRUSTEE REGIME IS AN OBSTACLE TO DEMOCRACY"
Temelli also criticized the appointed trustees in local governments, stating, "Trustees in cities like Van, Mardin, Siirt, and Batman undermine democratic processes. This understanding sabotages the peace process," he said.
"MALAZGIRT IS ALSO THE GATE OF ROJAVA"
In his evaluation regarding regional politics, Temelli stated, "If you are going to Malazgirt, you need to know that when that gate opens, the gate of Rojava also opens. Without peace in Rojava, peace in Turkey will also be hindered," he said.
"THE POSSIBILITY OF THE IMRALI DELEGATION GOING IS HIGH"
Answering questions from journalists at the press conference, Temelli said that the possibility of the HDP delegation going to Imralı is high this week:
"Most likely, our delegation will go, but the exact day is not clear. It has not been possible to go to the island for about a month. They will convey the developments to Mr. Öcalan, receive his evaluations, and return."
