In the investigation into the disappearance of university student Gülistan Doku, who has been unreachable since January 5, 2020, in Tunceli, chilling details have emerged. The Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that significant evidence has been found indicating that Doku's lifeless body was systematically disposed of or buried by guards linked to the suspects.
In the investigation into Gülistan Doku, a second-year student of the Department of Child Development at Munzur University who has been missing since January 5, 2020 in Tunceli, 12 of the 15 suspects detained were arrested, while judicial control decisions were issued for 3. A total of 15 suspects, including 3 doctors, 1 nurse, 1 IT staff, 5 data entry personnel, the wife of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, Handan Sonel, the owner of an IT company believed to have intervened in Gülistan Doku's phone, 1 businessperson, and 2 security guards, were detained in the early hours of this morning.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE: DELIBERATELY DESTROYED Subsequently, in a statement from the Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated: 'In line with the disappearance of Tunceli Munzur University student Gülistan Doku on January 5, 2020, and the allegations that the process resulted in a murder, following the evaluation of witness, confidential witness, and informant statements, reports, HTS records, and all information and documents obtained through our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's investigation file number 2020/52, significant findings and evidence have been reached indicating that Gülistan Doku's lifeless body was buried or destroyed in an organized and conscious manner by security guards linked to the suspects. In light of the obtained evidence, on July 21, 2026, simultaneous operations were conducted at identified addresses in Ankara, Elazığ, Istanbul, and Tunceli targeting a total of 5 suspects, including two security guards, deemed connected to the incident, resulting in search and seizure procedures, and all target suspects were captured and detained.
