In the scope of the investigation conducted regarding the claim that women's private images were recorded without their knowledge in a beauty center in Bakırköy and published on digital platforms for a fee, one more suspect was arrested. Two suspects previously arrested within the scope of the investigation were also detained.
Following complaints lodged by 4 women on August 28th, the Istanbul Police Department's Bakırköy District Police Department launched an investigation into allegations that their private images were secretly recorded without their knowledge at a beauty center they had previously visited in the Zuhuratbaba neighborhood of Bakırköy, and that these images were published for a fee on digital platforms.
HIDDEN CAMERA SYSTEM DISCOVERED
As part of the investigations, searches conducted at the business premises uncovered 1 active device with a hidden camera system, 6 devices determined to have been previously removed from the premises, and numerous digital materials. In connection with the case, the business owner, a female suspect identified as F.Ö., was apprehended at the business, while E.S.C., a suspect identified as having installed the cameras and security systems, was caught at their residence in the Kağıthane district.
SUSPECT WHO PUBLISHED THE IMAGES IN CUSTODY
In the continuation of the operations, a suspect identified as A.Ç. (30), found to be connected to the publication of the images on digital platforms, was also apprehended at their residence in the Küçükçekmece district on August 29th. The digital materials seized during the searches were confiscated.
F.Ö. and E.S.C. were arrested and delivered to the penal institution by the judicial authorities on August 29th, to whom they were referred for the crimes of "Unlawfully Giving or Obtaining Personal Data" and "Violation of Privacy". It was learned that A.Ç. would also be referred to the judicial authorities on August 30, 2026, on the same charges.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had initiated an investigation after complainants A.K.Ş, M.Y, B.M.A., and F.C.K. stated that their images were recorded with a hidden camera during procedures they underwent at a beauty center in Bakırköy, and that these images were published and distributed for a fee on social media platforms.
Within the scope of the investigation, during a search conducted by Bakırköy District Police Department teams at the business, 7 devices (1 active, 6 removed) containing hidden camera systems and numerous digital materials were seized, and it was determined that 14,000 videos had been published on a platform.
The detained business owner F.Ö. and E.S.C., who allegedly installed the camera system, were arrested on charges of "violating privacy", "unlawfully obtaining personal data", and "obscenity".
