New images from the region have been shared following Ukraine's attack on the Wildberries distribution center in Krasnodar. Speaking about the assault, which saw massive flames and thick black smoke rising, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that they targeted logistics centers supplying drone parts and military equipment to the Russian army. Experts note that the attack could have a multi-billion dollar impact on Russia's supply chain and logistics infrastructure.
New images from the region have been shared following Ukraine's attack on a massive logistics center belonging to Wildberries in Russia's Krasnodar region. The images show the distribution center completely engulfed in flames, with thick black smoke covering the sky visible from miles away.
The attack reportedly targeted the distribution center in Krasnodar owned by Wildberries, one of Russia's largest e-commerce platforms.
COULD CAUSE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN IMPACT
According to an assessment by OSINT researcher Chris O'Wiki, the direct loss of goods from the attack could amount to approximately $1.2 billion. However, the main impact is expected to be felt on Russia's online retail and logistics network.
Wildberries controls about 45% of Russia's online retail market, and together with its competitor Ozon, dominates 77% of the market. Therefore, the disabling of the logistics center is expected to affect a wide range of stakeholders from sellers to consumers.
FRONT-LINE LOGISTICS ALSO AFFECTED
Analyses indicate that the damaged facilities were used not only for civilian commerce but also by Russian volunteers to ship drone parts, generators, communication equipment, and various supplies to the front lines.
Thus, the attack is assessed to potentially impact the logistical capacity of the Russian military.
ZELENSKY: WE STRUCK RUSSIA'S LOGISTICS CENTERS
In a statement regarding the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that logistics centers providing drone parts, navigation equipment, and other military supplies to the Russian army in the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions were targeted.
Zelensky also announced that an oil depot was struck, and a tanker and four cargo ships belonging to Russia's shadow fleet were targeted in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
"WE ARE BRINGING THE WAR BACK INTO RUSSIA"
Referring to the purpose of the operations, Zelensky said, "We are justly bringing the war back into Russia." Stating that they seek peace, the Ukrainian leader called on Russia for diplomacy, saying, "Ukraine has presented all its proposals. Russia must be forced to turn to diplomacy."
