Following the successive school attacks in Turkey, attention has turned to new measures to be taken. The details of the '7-Step New School Security Model' prepared by the directive of Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi have become clear.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched a comprehensive study following the incidents in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş. With the '7-Step New School Security Model' prepared by the ministry's bureaucrats, the security system in all schools across Turkey will be completely overhauled.

SECURITY CABINET COMING TO SCHOOLS

According to the news in Sabah; in the new system, security will not be limited to physical measures alone. A multi-layered structure involving police, health, and social service experts will be established. The Security Executive Board, to be set up in every school, will include the school principal, guidance counselor, police station commander, and social service specialist. At-risk students will be monitored through Community Health Centers under the coordination of relevant ministries.

EARLY WARNING SYSTEM ACTIVATED

Within the scope of the model, an early warning system will be activated in schools. Instant information sharing will be ensured between school administration and law enforcement forces, and the school surroundings will be continuously monitored with camera systems. Additionally, patrol activities around schools will be increased.

RISKS WILL BE IDENTIFIED IN ADVANCE

Students receiving psychological or psychiatric support will be regularly monitored, and potential risks will be attempted to be identified in advance. Through data sharing, it is aimed to detect 'silent dangers' early.

HERE IS THE 7-STEP NEW SECURITY MODEL

  • First, risk analysis and threat definitions in schools will be revised from scratch, and the current system will be completely updated.
  • Physical security measures will be increased; school entrances and exits, perimeter security, and inspections will be tightened.
  • Coordination with law enforcement forces will be strengthened, early warning systems will be activated, and potential risks will be intervened.
  • Students with psychological and psychiatric disorders will be regularly monitored through Community Health Centers.
  • Virtual patrol teams under the police force will closely monitor children on social media and gaming groups against traps.
  • Data sharing will be ensured among the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
  • Training, conferences, and seminars will be conducted in schools in this regard.
