The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Israeli Ambassador to the ministry and issued a protest note following the armed threat against two Italian soldiers by an Israeli settler in the occupied West Bank.

PROTEST NOTE TO ISRAEL
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Israeli Ambassador to the ministry and issued a protest note. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani requested that a "strong protest" be conveyed to the Israeli Ambassador regarding the incident. The Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv also submitted an official protest note to the Israeli government and contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Israeli army, the police, and the internal security organization Shin Bet.
2 ITALIAN SOLDIERS FORCED TO KNEEL AND INTERROGATED AT GUNPOINT
According to Italian government sources, an Israeli, believed to be a settler, forced two Italian soldiers to kneel at gunpoint and interrogated them. The incident occurred yesterday while the Italian soldiers were traveling to prepare and inspect for a visit by a delegation of European Union ambassadors to a village near the Palestinian city of Ramallah. The two soldiers, traveling in a diplomatic vehicle, returned to the Italian Consulate General in Jerusalem unharmed after the incident.
