Following the call for disarmament by the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, responses came from Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKBY), Mazlum Abdi, the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and Salih Muslim, a member of the PYD Presidential Council.
The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, supported the call of the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to the PKK.
NECHIRVAN BARZANI: WE ARE READY FOR COOPERATION
Nechirvan Barzani stated that he fully supports the peace process in Turkey and expressed that they are ready for any kind of assistance and cooperation to ensure the success of the process. Barzani said, "Mr. President Erdoğan and the AK Party administration have presented a clear vision that lays the groundwork for peace since the first day they came to power. We respect and appreciate their efforts."
SALIH MUSLIM: NOW IT'S TURKEY'S TURN
Salih Muslim, a member of the PYD Presidential Council, evaluated Öcalan's call to media organizations known for their proximity to the organization. Muslim stated, "Now it's Turkey's turn; what steps will they take? Just as the leadership takes full responsibility, the Turkish state should also take responsibility..."
Muslim mentioned that they will evaluate the call with the actors in northeastern Syria and will draw up a roadmap, saying, "If freedoms develop, we can certainly lay down our arms. Leader Öcalan left this to the PKK's congress. If they find it necessary, they will hold the congress and may lay down their arms and dissolve themselves. The decision to lay down arms will be made by the party. The decision to dissolve themselves also belongs to the PKK. Leader Öcalan says he will take this responsibility. The leadership says, 'You make the decision at the congress.' Now there are decisions to be made by Turkey. Our situation as North and East Syria is different. Our administrators will sit down and make decisions about what to do with the Syrian regime."
MAZLUM ABDI: SDF WILL NOT LAY DOWN ARMS
The leader of the SDF, supported by the US, Mazlum Abdi, stated during a video conference at a press club meeting in Washington that Öcalan's call is "not related to the Kurds in Syria but is related to Turkey's domestic politics." Abdi emphasized that the SDF will not lay down their arms.
