A new development has occurred following the detention of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer in the investigation into "membership in a terrorist organization." The Ministry of Interior has appointed Oğuzhan Bingöl, the district governor of Beşiktaş, as the trustee for Esenyurt Municipality.

CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained at his home in the early hours of the morning. After his procedures at the police station, it was learned that Özer was being sent to the courthouse while his processes at the prosecutor's office were ongoing. The Ministry of Interior appointed Beşiktaş District Governor Oğuzhan Bingöl as the trustee of Esenyurt Municipality.

WHAT HAPPENED?

A detention order was issued against Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau as part of an investigation aimed at identifying the members and activities of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK. It was reported that Ahmet Özer committed the alleged crime by establishing an organic connection with organization leaders through conversations obtained as a result of communication interception measures, physical surveillance records, and bank account movements. Upon the request of the Chief Prosecutor's Office, a search warrant was issued by the Istanbul Duty Magistrate's Court. The suspect Özer was detained on the morning of October 30.
