OIC secretary general makes urgent appeal to member states to extend all forms of assistance to Indonesia.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Thursday extended condolences to the government and people of Indonesia, where a tropical cyclone left more than 180 people dead.

"Secretary General Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen expressed his sincere condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, and offered his wishes for swift recovery to those wounded," an OIC statement said.

Al-Othaimeen also made an urgent appeal to the member states, donors, humanitarian and financial institutions across the Muslim world to extend all forms of assistance to Indonesia in response to the disaster.

At least 182 people have been killed, with dozens missing and thousands rendered homeless after a tropical cyclone battered Indonesia and neighboring East Timor, authorities said on Wednesday. -
