Olcay Baykal, the wife of the late former CHP Chairman Deniz Baykal, has passed away in Antalya where she was receiving treatment. Retired teacher Olcay Baykal, who crowned their love that began in high school with a secret wedding in 1963, had her body sent to Ankara for burial. The mother of two will be laid to rest on Friday next to her lifelong partner Deniz Baykal, bidding her final farewell.

Olcay Baykal, the wife of Deniz Baykal who was being treated at Antalya Kepez State Hospital, passed away this morning. Olcay Baykal's body was sent to Antalya Airport via the funeral vehicle of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and from there by air to Ankara for burial. It was stated that Olcay Baykal will be laid to rest next to the late Deniz Baykal on Friday.
THEY MARRIED IN SECRET
Olcay Baykal, who was a teacher by profession, secretly married the former CHP Chairman Deniz Baykal, who was then a lawyer, in 1963. Deniz Baykal took Olcay Baykal to Akçakoca on the Black Sea coast, where they got married and later informed their families about the wedding. Deniz Baykal, who passed away 3 years ago, and his high school sweetheart Olcay Baykal have two children, Ataç and Aslı.
