During the budget discussions in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), the reason given by Deputy Speaker Sırrı Süreyya Önder for not imposing a time limit on CHP member Faik Öztrak surprised many. ÖNDER DID NOT IMPOSE A TIME LIMIT ON ÖZTRAKThe budget discussions in the TBMM once again witnessed extraordinary moments. Deputy Speaker Sırrı Süreyya Önder did not impose a time limit on CHP Tekirdağ Deputy Faik Öztrak during the General Assembly meeting. "THE LANDOWNER OF THE PARLIAMENT BUILDING IS ÖZTRAK'S TWO GREAT GRANDFATHERS"At the end of his speech, Öztrak thanked Önder. Deputy Speaker Önder also explained why he did not impose a time limit. Önder stated, "January 6, 1961, is the date when this parliament building was put into service. The landowners of this parliament building are Mr. Faik Öztrak's two great grandfathers. Despite many institutions and individuals, including Çankaya Municipality, selling it for money during the expropriation, the Öztrak family donated this land. Therefore, let’s not be stingy with one minute."
