The judge of the 5th Family Court in Izmir was threatened via WhatsApp by individuals who were parties to a case she was conducting, who sent her identity information. Following the report, 2 suspects were detained in operations carried out in Izmir and Ankara. Recep Kaplan, arrested in Ankara, was taken into custody, and it was determined that the suspects had previously also threatened the Aydın Governor and the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor. Detention was requested for two more suspects.
The judge of the Izmir 5th Family Court became the target of threats and blackmail messages on WhatsApp due to a case she was hearing. In messages sent from a foreign-origin number, phrases such as 'If Recep doesn't get a sentence, you will be the target' were used, and photos containing the judge's and her family members' personal information were also sent. While an investigation was launched into the incident, one of the suspects taken into custody was arrested.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION AT ADDRESSES
Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, arrest and seizure of digital materials decisions were issued for Kübra Uçkun and Recep Kaplan, who were identified as the parties to the case the judge was hearing and were mentioned in the messages.
In operations conducted at addresses determined in Izmir and Ankara, two suspects were taken into custody. The suspects' mobile phones and tablets were seized for examination.
Kübra Uçkun, taken into custody in Izmir, was released after her procedures at the police station. Recep Kaplan, captured in Ankara, was referred to court after his statement was taken by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office via SEGBIS.
Kaplan was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to prison.
THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY THREATENED THE GOVERNOR AND CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR
During the examinations conducted within the scope of the investigation, other notable threat allegations emerged. In the research carried out in line with Kübra Uçkun's statement, it was determined that the suspects had sent threat messages to Aydın Governor Yakup Canpolat and Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor Gökhan Karaköse in 2025.
It was determined that legal proceedings had previously been carried out regarding these incidents by the Cyber Crimes and Security Branch directorates.
DETENTION REQUEST FOR TWO MORE SUSPECTS
Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings were also initiated against Erkan Gökmen and Bilal Türk, who were considered to be involved in the actions.
A request was made to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace for the apprehension of the two suspects, searches of their residences, and their detention.
It was reported that the comprehensive investigation into the incident is ongoing.
