After a dispute between Anthropic, the producer of the AI model Claude, and the Pentagon, OpenAI agreed to use its own AI models within the Pentagon's secret network.
Dario Amodei, CEO of the US-based artificial intelligence company Anthropic, stated that they "cannot comply with the request" from the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) for the unlimited use of their technologies. Competitor company OpenAI (ChatGPT) has shaken hands with the Pentagon.
The disagreement between Anthropic, the producer of the AI model Claude, and the Pentagon, which threatened to cancel government contracts, had been ongoing for some time. The Pentagon demanded that the company remove all security measures from its technology and provide unlimited access, while the company stated that it could not comply with these demands. OpenAI, which accepted the conditions rejected by Anthropic, agreed to use its own AI models within the Pentagon's secret network.
STATEMENT FROM CEO ALTMAN
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman officially announced the agreement with his statement. Altman, who said, "We have reached an agreement with the Department of Defense to make our models available for use in their secret networks," noted that the agreement reflects OpenAI's principles of "prohibiting mass surveillance domestically" and "ensuring human responsibility in the use of power, including autonomous weapon systems."
Some users in the US canceled their ChatGPT subscriptions in response to the agreement.
HAD DONATED 25 MILLION DOLLARS TO TRUMP'S CAMPAIGN
On the other hand, OpenAI Board Chairman Greg Brockman and his wife Anna Brockman had donated 25 million dollars to Trump's election campaign last year.
