An operation was carried out against fraudsters in 7 provinces based in Diyarbakır. The network that defrauded citizens by imitating the e-government website was dismantled in the operation named "Sekte". The teams caught the scammers who made payments under the pretext of "Secure payment" through the link they sent, under the name of alleged credit amount. Out of the 27 suspects detained in the operation, 26 were arrested and sent to prison.
An operation called "sekte" was carried out against an organized crime gang based in Diyarbakır and 7 other provinces, resulting in the arrest of 26 out of 27 suspects and the seizure of numerous materials.
The Security Branch Directorate of the Provincial Police Department initiated an investigation into cyber fraudsters who imitated the so-called e-government website on the internet, copied their interfaces, and trapped citizens. The teams identified those who defrauded people by making payments under the pretext of a so-called credit fee through the link they sent, claiming it was a "secure payment."
CITIZENS VICTIMIZED THROUGH "DIGITAL HYPNOSIS" METHOD
The police discovered that the organized crime gang hypnotized users by setting up websites that were almost identical to the original ones, victimizing citizens through a method called "digital hypnosis." The teams, who conducted cyber tracking after identifying the gang's traces on the internet, determined that the fraudsters called the victims from a call center in the next stage of digital theft, asking them to deposit money again for various reasons. After identifying the fraudsters' addresses through identity verification, the teams initiated technical surveillance and took action.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION IN 7 PROVINCES
The teams carried out a simultaneous operation called "sekte" against the organized crime gang in Diyarbakır, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Mersin, Adana, and Hatay. During the searches, 32 mobile phones, 12 computers, 40 SIM cards, 18 bank cards, and numerous digital materials were seized.
26 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
A total of 27 suspects were detained during the operation. After their statements, 26 out of the 27 suspects were arrested and taken to prison.
