Opposition Leader: Over Next 10 Years, We Will Rule Turkey

We will uplift 83M Turkish citizens from poverty, Meral Aksener says.

A Turkish opposition party leader said Wednesday they are gearing up to rule the country for the next 10 years, a period that will unveil Turkey's "true potential."
"Over the next 10 years, we are aspiring to govern in a way that will reveal the true potential of Turkey. We will bring in the most qualified staff to work," Meral Aksener, the leader of Good (IYI) Party, told her party's parliamentary group.
Aksener went on to say that they will uplift 83 million Turkish citizens from the clutches of poverty.
Instead of reactionary politics which fans hostility, we will develop a moral, holistic and practical policy for governance, she added.
"But above all, we will strive for justice, for peace, for abundance, for a strong, rich and happy country."
In 2017, Turkish voters decided to switch from a parliamentary system to an executive presidential system of governance.
Turkey is set to hold the general elections in 2023 when Turkish citizens will elect their president as well as 600 members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. All elected officials will serve for a period of five years. -
