The Osmaniye Governorship has launched an investigation into allegations that some animals in the shelter were poisoned and killed. As a result of the investigation conducted by teams from the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate and the Agriculture and Forestry Directorate, it was determined that 19 dogs were dead in the area, and that 2 additional dogs died on the examination table.
After allegations that dogs were poisoned and killed at the Osmaniye Municipality Stray Animal Temporary Shelter, teams conducting an investigation found 21 dead dogs in the shelter.
In a written statement from the Osmaniye Governorship, it was noted that an investigation was initiated following social media posts regarding some animals in the shelter being poisoned and killed.
21 DOGS FOUND DEAD
In the statement, it was reported that the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate teams, along with veterinarians from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, inspected the cemetery of the Osmaniye Municipality Stray Animal Temporary Shelter, and the following was recorded:
"During the inspections, it was determined that there were 19 dead dogs in total, including 15 puppies under 6 months old of various breeds and 4 dogs aged 2-3 years. Additionally, it was found that there were 2 dogs aged 2-3 years dead on the examination table of the shelter."
"THE DEATH OF 4 DOGS IS UNDER INVESTIGATION"
In the statement regarding the investigation of the 21 dead dogs, it was stated, "The carcasses of the 4 recently deceased dogs have been sent to the Adana Veterinary Control Institute for investigation of the cause of death. The matter is being closely monitored."
