Journalist Oya Lale Arslan, who was under investigation due to her broadcasts and posts on social media and YouTube, has been detained. While legal proceedings have been initiated against Arslan on charges of "publicly spreading misleading information" and "making propaganda for a terrorist organization," digital materials were seized during a search of her home.
Oya Lale Arslan, who was under investigation due to her broadcasts and posts on the social media platform, was taken into custody upon the order of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
SERIOUS CHARGES
Proceedings were initiated against Arslan on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information" and "making propaganda for a terrorist organization," and during the search of her home, her digital materials were seized.
Police teams, acting upon the instruction of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detained Oya Lale Arslan. It was learned that during the search at Arslan's residence, numerous digital materials were seized for examination within the scope of the investigation.
Arslan is expected to be referred to the courthouse after her procedures at the police station.
WHO IS OYA LALE OZAN ARSLAN?
Oya Lale Ozan Arslan worked as a news anchor, program producer, and presenter on various television and radio channels for many years.
Born in Ankara, Lale Ozan Arslan began her career in 1992 by presenting a culture and arts program with Metin Uca at Radio Anadolu, the radio service of Anadolu Agency. She then stepped into news anchoring at the same institution.
In 1997, she moved to CTV and presented the main news bulletins. Between 2004 and 2009, she worked as a producer and presenter within TRT Ankara Radio.
In August 2009, she started working at Halk TV. She became widely known and appreciated by large audiences, particularly for her uninterrupted live broadcast performance during the Gezi Park protests in 2013. She left her position there in 2019.
