Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi reacted to his Jordanian counterpart's remarks that the missile attacks following the US strikes were 'pre-planned.' Araghchi stated that Jordan opened its airspace to the US and asked, 'Are you unaware of the deaths of innocent Iranians?'
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded to Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, who said that his country's missile attacks on US bases in Jordan were a "pre-planned policy." Araghchi argued that Jordan's territory and airspace were used in US attacks against Iran.
Tensions have escalated between Iran and Jordan over Tehran's ballistic missile attacks targeting US military presence in Jordan.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded via his social media account to statements made by his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, against the Tehran administration.
"HOW MUCH LONGER SHOULD IRAN HAVE WAITED?"
Araghchi, criticizing Safadi's statements, said, "How much longer does the Jordanian Foreign Minister think Iran should have waited before responding to an aggressor who respects neither Arab sovereignty nor Iran's sovereignty?"
Araghchi, who claimed that Jordan's airspace and territory were used in US attacks against Iran, asked, "Is he truly unaware that Arab airspace, territories, and waters were used in American attacks that resulted in the deaths of innocent Iranians?"
IRAN STRUCK US BASES IN JORDAN
The US had carried out attacks on Iran's Lark Island in the Persian Gulf on August 30. Iran, in turn, announced that it had targeted the Muwaffaq Salti and King Hussein air bases in Jordan, which it identified as the source of the attacks, with ballistic missiles.
Following new US attacks on September 1, Iran also announced that it had struck the US base named Camp Titin in Jordan with ballistic missiles.
SAFADI: IT WAS A PRE-PLANNED POLICY
Jordanian Foreign Minister Safadi, however, stated that Iran launched missile attacks on Jordan and other countries approximately two hours after the US attacks, evaluating that "These attacks were not a reaction but a pre-planned policy."
