Republic People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at the Çalar Saat program with İlker Karagöz held in Soma on the anniversary of the Soma mining disaster. Özel made important statements regarding the ongoing new process with the terrorist organization PKK's decision to lay down arms and dissolve.
Özel said, "What we are saying today is this; this process must be carried out without excluding anyone, and the place for that is the Parliament. A commission should be established, and this commission must make the legal arrangements. If a social consensus is to be sought, other families of martyrs who have been harmed by this process must definitely participate in the commission at the table that will be established in that Parliament, and the consent of these people must be obtained. I had said, 'We should not be involved in a job where we cannot look into the eyes of the families of martyrs.' Sırrı Süreyya Önder also said, 'Sometimes you cannot look into the eyes of a martyr's mother today, but tomorrow when the other child lives, they will come and look into your eyes and hug you.'
"EVERYONE'S VIEWS MUST BE TAKEN"
Stating that the Speaker of the Parliament should take the initiative, CHP leader Özel said, "Today, this issue should be resolved with social consensus, and the whole of Turkey will benefit from this. The wrong calculation here is this; there is a festive atmosphere in the government media, and they have their own heroes of the issue. My brother, after this issue succeeds, the nation will appreciate whoever they want, but let it not be done with perception operations. Of course, negotiations have been held before this; there is nothing more normal than that, but today we are after wrongly buttoning the first button from the very first day it was announced that the arms would be laid down. These are wrong! The framework we have drawn is this. It would be right for the Speaker of the Parliament to take the initiative, and a preparation commission should definitely be invited, and everyone should have a seat at the table to have their views taken. We have a commission of 10 people."
"SECRET AGREEMENT, CONSTITUTION BARGAIN" ALLEGATIONS
While discussions regarding the new process continue, allegations of a secret agreement with the terrorist organization and a constitutional bargain with the DEM Party are also on the agenda. Speaking on the subject, CHP leader Özel said, "When I asked Mr. Sırrı, he said, 'If you are going to ask us, curse us instead of a secret agreement or a constitutional bargain.' I cannot say anything where there is a clear guarantee of the late one, but if it happens, we will not be there tomorrow."
